Project Statement

Grounded Roots Rehabilitation Center is designed to support women rebuilding their lives after addiction by providing a safe, nurturing environment for recovery. The facility offers in-patient and out-patient care, semi-private living suites that balance independence with supervision, and therapy spaces for counseling and healing. Overall, the facility should have approximately a 15,000 square foot footprint, be two stories, provide sufficient parking, and should be secure. Community is fostered through shared spaces and childcare facilities for single mothers, while extracurricular amenities such as a library, movie room, fitness center, and classrooms for life skills and artistic expression enrich the recovery process. The center emphasizes dignity, healing, and holistic growth for its patients.

Concept Statement

An oak tree symbolizes a safe and nurturing environment. Grounded Roots Rehabilitation Center is dedicated to supporting women struggling with addiction in their emotional journey of growth, strength, and resilience. The facility emphasizes healing through natural light, open spaces with column designs inspired by oak trees, and the use of materials such as wood, stone, and glass. Earthy browns, muted greens, deep blues and bronze will create an uplifting atmosphere, while patient rooms are kept minimal to allow personal expression. Every design element is intended to foster comfort, protection, and renewal as women embark on their healing journeys.

Take a peek inside the space. This project was an exciting one; I have not collaborated with others in a project before. This challenged me to embrace working with other design and architecture students while still designing a space that feels comfortable, safe, and inspiring.
